Keeping Hope Alive

The Archdiocese of Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich held the annual Keep Hope Alive benefit event Nov. 30 at St. Ignatius College Prep, Chicago. The benefit supports the archdiocese’s local immigration ministries. In attendance were (from left) Judy Seiberlich, OP; JoAnn Persch, RSM; Erica Jordan, OP; Pat Murphy, RSM; and Bernadine Karge, OP. JoAnn and Pat were the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award recipients for their ministry of welcome with immigrants. Erica continues to be involved with pastoral care at immigration detention centers, and she and Judy have accompanied many recently released immigrants. Bernadine has worked with JoAnn and Pat since the 1980s and has been involved with immigration case work, education, and advocacy. “We continue in hope,” said Bernadine.
