Peaceful Presence

Peace marchDominican Sisters and Associates of Sinsinawa and friends stood at the corner of Monroe Street and Edgewood Avenue in Madison, WI, on Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to noon during the holiday season to demonstrate as a silent, prayerful presence calling for peace in Israel/Gaza. “In this season of the celebration of the coming of the Prince of Peace, we felt we needed to send our prayers out into the universe, calling for a ceasefire and end to violence in Israel/Gaza,” said Sinsinawa Dominican Promoter of Peace and Justice Reg McKillip, OP. “We do not know how to fix this very complex conflict. However, what we do know is that violence will not work because it has never been a solution for peace in our world.” Pictured are (from left) Sr. Kathleen Phelan, Sr. Virginia Pfluger, Sr. Mary Kremer, Sr. Mary Ellen Gevelinger, Sr. Colleen Settles, Associate Mary Goonan, Associate Michelle Horton, Laura Hermanns, and Margaret Clark.
