Negotiations Move Forward with Roux and Lucia Deli & Bakery
The Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa are in the process of downsizing their building space usage at Sinsinawa Mound. The building that houses the kitchen and bakery at Sinsinawa is in negotiations to transfer ownership from Sinsinawa Dominicans, Inc., to Tricon Construction Group, and Tricon plans to develop a senior living community and event center at the Mound. The Sinsinawa Dominicans are negotiating an agreement with Roux and Lucia, a deli and bakery opening in Dubuque, Iowa, in the spring of 2024, that will allow continued production and sale of Sinsinawa Bakery items through the Roux and Lucia deli and bakery.
The Sinsinawa Bakery staff will continue to produce its high-quality, popular baked goods at Sinsinawa through Feb. 25, 2024. Production of bakery items at Sinsinawa will end on that date. Sinsinawa Book & Gift Gallery remains open for business at its current location and will continue to offer products from Sinsinawa Bakery in the store through Feb. 25 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Online bakery orders and orders for shipment will only be available through the end of 2023.

Roux and Lucia are relatives of two of our Sisters and understand our mission. We are pleased to be able to continue to provide our bakery products to our friends and neighbors through them.”
The sisters are part of a worldwide Dominican family, the Order of Preachers. For more than 800 years, Dominicans have continued to preach the Gospel in word and deed. Today, thousands of sisters, nuns, priests, brothers, associates, and laity minister in more than 100 countries around the world.
